David Benioff and D.B Weiss are set to Direct A Star Wars Trilogy that is separate from the Skywalker series that we have all come to know. The tow are had this to say about it: “In the summer of 1977 we traveled to a galaxy far, far away, and we’ve been dreaming of it ever since. We are honored by the opportunity, a little terrified by the responsibility, and so excited to get started as soon as the final season of Game of Thrones is complete.”
When the Bob Iger, Disney's CEO was asked why the two aren't working on a ongoing series, (like the one in development for Disney's new OTT service) he said,“We’ve been talking with them for some time. They didn’t express interest in a series.” The two have also recieved praise from Lucasfilm President, Kathleen Kennedy, who said, “David and Dan are some of the best storytellers working today,”
Game of Thrones is currently in production of it's final season, which is set to air in 2019.
