These are strange times we are currently living in. The typical conventions are being replaced with digital events to help us get hyped about the things we love. While Sony had made it clear they were not going to have a presence at this years E3, which was canceled due to the ongoing pandemic, they were definitely going to get us hyped with their own presentation regardless. On Thursday June 11th they did just that with an hour long reveal that showcased not only the hardware, which we’ll come back to in a minute, but also more than 20 games that are going to take all your money this holiday season and beyond. The lineup they showed off looked amazing. From old favorites returning like Spider-Man, Ratchet & Clank, Oddworld and Demon’s Soul’s to new IP’s like Project Athia, Bugsnax and Deathloop just to name a few. Sony also revealed that this console will actually release in 2 different forms, one with a disc drive and one that will be digital only. The digital console will likely be cheaper because it gets rid of the disc drive entirely. It seems like a good move as a good chunk of gaming consumers have started buying exclusively digital titles. I know many people whose entire collection is digital. It’s an interesting move that I think will pay off for them for them in the long run. While I may not like that physical media is dying, I am still a gamer and look forward to every minute of what the future holds. Check out the entire game and hardware presentation below and stay tuned as we will be highlighting specific games in the days to come. Leave us a comment letting us know which game or games you’re most excited about.
